John Deere, Case IH and Claas Roll Out Mid-Season Product Upgrades and Digital Tools as Northern Hemisphere Harvest Progresses

Over the past seven days, John Deere, Case IH and Claas have each unveiled key technology updates and market moves, reinforcing the industry’s shift toward precision, automation and data-driven farming operations.

John Deere led industry headlines this week with a major planting technology launch and strong momentum in its precision agriculture segment.

On July 23, the company officially rolled out its Model Year 2027 planter upgrade package, headlined by a dual-product fertilization system that integrates ExactShot in-furrow nutrient delivery and ExactRate side-band application into a single platform. The technology enables simultaneous, variable-rate fertilization at two different soil depths and positions, matching crop growth stages with targeted nutrient supply. According to Deere’s field test data, the system reduces in-furrow fertilizer usage by up to 66% while improving emergence uniformity and early-season crop vigor. The upgrade will be available across the full lineup of John Deere planters for the 2027 planting season.

In parallel, Deere’s precision agriculture business continued its rapid expansion. The company confirmed this week that JDLink Boost telematics kit sales have surpassed 12,500 units globally, growing 25% in the most recent quarter. Its See & Spray selective spraying technology now covers over 5 million acres worldwide, delivering verified herbicide savings of 50–60% for farmers. Across Eastern Europe, the company officially launched the Model Year 2027 Axial-Flow 160 Series combine harvesters following a phased rollout that began in mid-July. The updated Class 6 and 7 machines feature a fully redesigned digital cab with dual Pro 1200 touchscreen displays, upgraded Harvest Command automation and enhanced remote diagnostic capabilities. The new dual-screen layout separates machine control and agronomic data, allowing operators to monitor yield mapping, guidance and machine health simultaneously without switching menus. Case IH also added upgraded feeder house and grain handling systems to reduce grain damage and improve throughput in variable crop conditions.

In South America, Case IH marked a major automation milestone on July 22 with the first commercial deployment of its Axial-Flow AF10 Automation combine in Argentina. Following their official unveiling earlier in July, the all-new AXION 8 CMATIC tractor series began first customer deliveries across Germany, France and the Benelux countries during the week of July 21–27. Replacing the previous AXION 800 line, the three-model range spans 240 to 290 horsepower (up to 313 hp with Dynamic Power boost) and introduces Claas’ new VISOR front design, a 67 dB(A) ultra-quiet cab and the CEBIS Connect terminal with faster processing.
